Jersey Boys tells the true-life story and the rise to stardom of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons who were one of the most successful bands in pop music history. The band sold over 175 million records and were inducted into the Rock& Roll Hall of Fame for their worldwide hits including Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Walk Like a Man, Bye Bye Baby, Sherry and Big Girls Don’t Cry, which all feature in the musical.
This was the first time seeing Jersey Boys both the musical or the film. It wasn’t the first time hearing about the Jersey Boys though.
The cast of Jersey Boys are phenomenal. Ryan Gonzalez as Frankie Valli, Cameron MacDonald as Tommy DeVito, Thomas McGuane (career debut) as Bob Gaudio and Glaston Toft as Nick Massi. The rest of the main cast and ensemble were amazing and I always enjoy looking to see what they are doing in the background.
Walking into the stalls and seeing the set was great. You felt like you in New Jersey. Even though the set itself didn’t change the use of the displays and props leant to you feeling you were in a studio and even on stage performing.
It was lovely seeing the Jersey Boys outfits being recreated perfectly. My favourite would have to be the red jacket.
Overall I really enjoyed Jersey Boys and would see it again if it came back to Sydney
