I was so happy when it was announced that Shrek the Musical was going to get an Australian production. I had seen some photos and videos from the Broadway production and thought it was fun to see a much loved film be adapted into a musical. There was additions to the musical in the way of songs. The storybook characters get their own songs in the musical and I must admit one of my favourite songs from the song is Freak Flag.

I really loved the sets in Shrek. The castle where Princess Fiona is as well as Lord Farquaad was really well done.

The costumes were on point. I loved how each ensemble member was a different character. Seeing Lucy Durack as Princess Fiona was amazing and seeing her transformation into an ogre was great. For Ben Mingay, it was a longer process becoming Shrek with him staying in costume when there is a double show.

Overall I loved Shrek the Musical and would see the show again! The music and the performance were incredible and I will continue to sing Freak Flag well after the show.
