Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalo

This is the first book in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series.

In this spine-chilling gothic murder mystery set in gritty Victorian-era London, an intrepid society girl finds herself inescapably embroiled in the investigation of a ghastly serial killer known as Jack the Ripper.

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord’s daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.

Against her stern father’s wishes and society’s expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle’s laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.

The story’s shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this dazzling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.

Set in Victorian-era, Stalking Jack the Ripper the time period really added to the story. The mystery throughout the book kept me enthralled in the story. I learnt about Jack the Ripper in high school and it was one of the more interesting topics.

Audrey is such an interesting character. I loved how she broke societal norms by studying forensic medicine. Her friendship with Thomas is also very lovely and I can’t wait to see where it goes in the next books.

I loved the evidence that was included in the book and other things like the letters that was written between Audrey and Thomas. These details were great as it made it seem like you where actually seeing the evidence they were working with.

Overall Stalking Jack the Ripper is a great mystery novel and I look forward to reading the next of the series.
